Muhammad Shafiq serves as the Chairman of the Board of Governance of MySTEM Institute, a leading organization dedicated to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, innovation, and talent development. In this role, he provides strategic leadership to strengthen collaboration between education, industry, government, and communities in preparing future-ready generations and fostering a culture of innovation.
With over 15 years of experience in the software and oil & gas industries, Shafiq has held technical, management, and leadership positions in leading multinational companies. His expertise spans technology, digital transformation, engineering, operations, and strategic planning, enabling him to bridge industry needs with educational development.
Beyond his governance responsibilities, Shafiq is an active STEM advocate, serving as an Industrial Advisory Council member for Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), and as a member of the International Advisory Council for STEM Indonesia. He is also the host of the Sembang STEM Podcast, a co-author of several STEM-related publications, and the creator of the STEM Cards: Innovation Protocol game, an educational tool designed to promote creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation among learners. Through these initiatives, he continues to champion STEM literacy, innovation, and lifelong learning across Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region
